Garfield was brought in from the cold by a Good Samaritan when she couldn't bear to see him outside in the harsh weather any longer. According to residents in the area, he had been hanging around the townhouse complex for at least two years. He was always seeking out affection from the nice people there who would feed him.

When he came into TKN, Garfield was brought to the vet to be evaluated. He is estimated to be around 7 years old and was covered in lice and fleas and also had ear mites. As you can see in his pictures, Garfield's ears are quite damaged from years of untreated ear mite infestations and most likely frost bite. We believe he is extremely hard of hearing, if not deaf from the damage. However, he has received treatment for the current infestation of ear mites and will not require any further treatment for the old damage to his poor little ears.

Garfield has also been treated for the lice and fleas. His teeth were in very bad condition and he is scheduled for dental surgery at the beginning of January.

Despite his rocky start, Garfield is a very sweet big guy! He loves being petted and enthusiastically head butts his foster mom with his big block head to make sure she keeps petting him. He has the best purr and the sweetest most soulful "little" face.

Garfield is FIV positive, but please don't let this deter you from providing this sweet deserving guy of a forever home. TKN is happy to explain this condition and what it means and how he can successfully live with other cats to any potential adopters.

So far, Garfield doesn't seem to be very playful. He's a mellow guy who enjoys napping, eating and being petted. So if you're looking for a big chunk of a low key kitty who will help you keep up on all your Netflix bingeing, Garfield may just be your guy!
